We have developed a "visible light responsive titanium oxide nanomaterial" that reacts with high performance even under weak indoor lighting!
In the development of indoor high-performance titanium dioxide, there was a significant issue that needed to be resolved. The oxidation and reduction reactions (opposite reactions) were occurring simultaneously on the surface of the photocatalyst, leading to a substantial decrease in performance due to the reverse reaction. Furthermore, the photocatalyst could only exhibit its effects under ultraviolet light and was unable to function effectively under indoor lighting. In response, a research team led by Professor Yokono began developing next-generation titanium dioxide materials that can demonstrate photocatalytic functions under indoor light (such as LED light sources) that contains no ultraviolet rays.
